GETTING TO TAURANGA
Tauranga is located 200km from Auckland International Airport (the main centre for international flight arrivals).  The driving time from Auckland to Tauranga is approximately 2hr45min.  Airport shuttle services, bus services or rental cars are available from Auckland Airport to Tauranga. Air New Zealand flies daily direct from Auckland to Tauranga (a 25min flight).  Tauranga Airport is located on Jean Batten Drive about 10 minutes from Tauranga city centre.

TRANSPORT FOR ATHLETES AND OFFICIALS
Note a full bus timetable will be available for athletes providing regular transport between venues.

BUSES
Public buses in Tauranga are called Bay Hoppers.  Buses run seven days a week and on all public holidays except Christmas Day and Good Friday. This is a great way to travel around the city, suburbs or between towns. Routes include all major shopping, dining and tourist destinations. TAXIS
You can easily catch a taxi (cab) in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke. Check with your driver before you begin whether they have credit card facilities available or cash only. You are not expected to tip a taxi driver in New Zealand.  Taxis can be found parked around town but it’s often easier to just book online or phone to order one.   Browse Taxi & Shuttle Services.  

RENTAL VEHICLES
A rental car or motorhome is a great way to explore New Zealand as you'll have complete flexibility and control over where you want to go.  You can hire modern and reliable vehicles at the Tauranga airport plus other locations around Tauranga's City.  Or pick one up at Auckland International Airport when you arrive from overseas.  A full driver's licence from your home country or an international driving permit is required for car rentals in New Zealand.
