Day EIGHT – Team Pools

The Boys’ team event continued today with the remainder of the pool matches, the top two in each group progressing to the 1-12 knockout stage.

Pool A: Egypt and USA already through, they met to decide the pool winners.  Egypt 2-1
Pool B: Pakistan and Israel already through, they met to decide the pool winners. Pakistan 3-0
Pool C: If England beat Canada they and France would progress … England 3-0
Pool D: India and Colombia already through, they met to decide the pool winners. India 3-0
Pool E: Ireland and Malaysia already through, they met to decide the pool winners. Malaysia 2-1
Pool F: Spain and Finland already through, they met to decide the pool winners. Spain 3-0

So, top seeds Egypt, Pakistan, England and India all win their groups and receive byes into the quarter-finals, with the other eight teams playing tomorrow for the right to take on one of the top four.

It all went to seeding apart from France’s first day win over 10th seeds Canada which puts them into the playoffs against Ireland, who went one up in their group decider against Malaysia before losing out 2-1. Malaysia face USA, who took a game off the top-seeded Egyptians.

The other pre-quarter-final matchups are Spain v Israel and Finland v Colombia.
